Motorcyclist killed in collision with fire engine

A motorcyclist has died after a collision with a fire engine.

Staffordshire Police said officers were called to the B5405 near Eccleshall at around 12pm today and the male rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The force said it understands the Scania engine belonging to Staffordshire Fire and Rescue was not responding to an emergency call when the collision took place.

Police said the road will remain closed until the initial examination of the scene has been completed.

The vehicles will be recovered and face further examination by specialist collision investigators, the force added.

Any witnesses are urged to call Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident 295 of April 9.
