Ellie Goulding and ZZ Top among Glastonbury line-up additions

Updated

Ellie Goulding, ZZ Top and Disclosure are among the newly confirmed acts for Glastonbury Festival 2016.

The extended line-up for the festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset was announced on Tuesday morning through a poster on the Glastonbury Twitter account.

Headliners Adele, Coldplay and Muse had already been announced to perform at the festival, which takes place from June 22 to 26.

They will be joined by Beck, Foals, LCD Soundsystem, Chvrches, James Blake, PJ Harvey, New Order, Stormzy and Bring Me The Horizon.

Other acts include Skepta, The 1975, The Last Shadow Puppets, Grimes, Jake Bugg, Fatboy Slim, Guy Garvey, Madness, Wolf Alice, Bat For Lashes, Cyndi Lauper, and Earth, Wind & Fire.

Fitting with Glastonbury tradition, the diverse line-up includes a mixture of established artists such as Lauper and Madness, as well as newcomers including Grimes and Stormzy.

The Syrian National Orchestra, many of whose members have fled the conflict in their home country, are also scheduled to perform at the festival.

The orchestra will reunite with Damon Albarn at London's Southbank centre on Saturday June 25 but will also find time for a visit to the festival in Somerset.

They first played with Albarn at the Damascus Opera House in 2008 and feature on the Gorillaz track White Flag, then joining the band on their 2010 world tour.

The Syrian musicians, separated by war, will come back together to perform under principal conductor Issam Rafea.
