A 17-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a 52-year-old man.

Paul Jefferies was found dead at his home in the village of Mayfield in East Sussex last week. Police said he died from "multiple injuries".

The teenage suspect, from Crowborough, is accused of killing Mr Jefferies on February 23. He will appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court later.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Mr Jefferies, 52, was found dead by police who called at his home in Coggins Mill Lane on Thursday (25/2) after concerns had been expressed that he had not been seen for a few days.

"A post-mortem found that Mr Jefferies had died from multiple injuries."

A 17-year-old girl from Eastbourne, and a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man, both from Crowborough, who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have all been released on bail until April 21 pending further police inquiries.
