Eddie Redmayne cuts a dash at Kensington Palace ahead of Sunday's Baftas

Eddie Redmayne and his pregnant wife Hannah Bagshawe wowed on the red carpet as some of Hollywood's finest descended on London for the Baftas Lancome Nominees' Party.

The Oscar-winner, 34, looked smart in his black suit and tie. Wife Bagshawe wore a chic black gown.

Kensington Palace, the grand residence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, was the setting for a party like no other in the awards season calendar.

Redmayne is up for an honour for the second year in a row for The Danish Girl, while heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio will be hoping to continue his triumphant awards season tour for his role in The Revenant.

Ahead of Sunday's film awards ceremony, attendees at the Baftas Lancome Nominees' Party included Cate Blanchett, who was dressed in black.

The Australian-born star already has three Bafta Awards to her name.

Blanchett has been nominated in the leading actress category for Carol, alongside Redmayne's on-screen partner Alicia Vikander who has received her nomination for The Danish Girl.

Bafta supporting actor nominees Benicio del Toro and Mark Ruffalo also posed for the world's press in Kensington.

The Hulk star, who has been nominated for Spotlight, attended the event with his wife Sunrise Coigney.

Puerto Rican actor del Toro was recognised for his work in Sicario.

Award-winning directors Ridley Scott and Tom Hooper also appeared on the red carpet in the capital. The former has received a Bafta nod in the directing category for The Martian.

Hooper's The Danish Girl is up for outstanding British film where it faces, among others, Brooklyn and Amy - the documentary about the late singer Amy Winehouse.

Two actresses dressed in white at the Baftas Lancome Nominees' Party were Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke and Spanish actress Penelope Cruz. The Hunger Games' Sam Claflin and his wife Laura Haddock also attended.

The five movies up for best film at Sunday's ceremony are The Big Short, Bridge Of Spies, The Revenant, Carol and Spotlight.

Other nominations include nods for Kate Winslet, Julie Walters, and Vikander again, for best supporting actress, while Idris Elba, Christian Bale and Mark Rylance are among the men up for best supporting actor.

The films leading the nominations with a total of nine nods each are Bridge Of Spies and Carol. Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been nominated in four categories.

British director Sir Ridley Scott will be hoping for his first Bafta win in the director category after being nominated for The Martian.

Among the other awards presented on the night is the Rising Star, which recognises the best new talent.

Star Wars actor John Boyega is among the nominees, and other stars nominated include Fifty Shades Of Grey's Dakota Johnson, Welsh actor Taron Egerton, Brie Larson and Hammersmith-born Bel Powley, who starred in coming-of-age drama The Diary Of A Teenage Girl in 2015.

The documentary on late singer Amy Winehouse, titled Amy, has been nominated for Outstanding British Film as well as in the Documentary category.

Brooklyn, which has picked up six nominations in total, is also nominated for Outstanding British Film alongside 45 Years, The Danish Girl, Ex Machina and The Lobster.

The Baftas, which are seen as a good indicator of who will achieve Oscar success, will be handed out on Sunday, at a star-studded ceremony at London's Royal Opera House.

The ceremony, hosted by Stephen Fry, will be broadcast on BBC One.
