'Dangerous' mental health patient found after absconding from clinic

A "dangerous" mental health patient who disappeared from a psychiatric clinic for a week has been found after an "intensive manhunt".

Reece Burton, 25, was being held at the North London Clinic in Enfield after being convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent and detained under the Mental Health Act.

He absconded from the clinic on November 20, where he was on permitted ground leave, and police warned he was dangerous and should not be approached by the public.

Burton, who has a distinctive tattoo on the right side of his neck with the initials "RB", was found at an address in the Chelmsford area at 3pm on Friday and was detained by Essex Police on suspicion of escaping from lawful custody.

Detective Superintendent Simon Warwick, who led the investigation, said: "This has ended an intensive manhunt.

"Burton has now been returned to custody where he will no longer pose a threat to the public or himself."
