Policeman suffers head injuries in Co Armagh low-loader 'hit and run'

A policeman has been struck by a truck in a suspected hit-and-run incident in Co Armagh.

The officer was airlifted to hospital in Belfast after the incident in the village of Cullyhanna.

The collision, involving a low-loader, happened at around 1.20pm in Mullaghduff Road.

The policeman suffered head injuries but it is understood he was conscious.

The lorry is described as having a white cab, a yellow bumper, a red low-loader body and was carrying a white or silver vehicle.

Police said they are keen to identify the driver and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The officer's condition is said to be serious but not life-threatening.
