Police have charged two people and are appealing for help to identify a further eight in connection with violence that erupted at an illegal Halloween rave.

Sixteen party-goers were arrested after riot police were pelted with missiles including a suspected petrol bomb as they spent more than six hours trying to close down the event in south London.

The remaining 14 were released without charge, and police have released images of a further eight they wish to speak to.

Trouble erupted on Saturday night as hundreds of people attempted to get into the "Scumoween" event in a disused building in Lambeth.

Police were forced to call in extra resources to deal with what they called "public disorder and criminal damage", Scotland Yard said.

During the clash, 19 police officers and one police dog were injured. Some were treated at the scene and others taken to hospital. A man was also treated by London Ambulance Service.

Lesley Wheeler, 28, of New Malden, has been charged with assault on police and bailed to attend Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court on November 30.

Tony Amato, 42, of Caterham, Surrey, has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and bailed to attend Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court on November 17.
