Man charged after 13 injured in nightclub car crash

Police have charged a man after a car crashed into a smoking shelter, injuring 13 people.

The emergency services were called to Streets Nightclub in John Street, Porthcawl, South Wales, at around 1am on Sunday following the incident involving an Audi S4.

Paramedics took 10 people, aged between 17 and 43, to hospital for treatment for leg injuries which were not thought to be life-threatening, while three others also attended an emergency department.

South Wales Police said they have now charged a 24-year-old man with causing serious injury while driving, driving without insurance, failing to provide a specimen, driving while unfit through drink, and theft.

He is due to appear at Bridgend Magistrates' Court later today.
