Man with 224 Arrests Accidentally Breaks Into Police Officer's Home, Wakes Her Up

Is this Britain's dumbest criminal? Or just very unlucky?

A man in south Wales is in prison after he broke into a home and woke up the occupant. Trouble was, the house belonged to a police officer who was enjoying her day off.

It meant the bungling criminal, who had 224 previous offences, was an easy arrest on his 225th.

Stacy Bolton, 26, quite literally ended up taking her work home with her. But, unlike most of us, this didn't involve checking emails with the TV on in the background.

She sprung into action as soon as the burglar broke in. She shouted at Jamie Perkins, 39, who fled the building before being chased and arrested minutes later.

'A thorough nuisance'

A court heard the experienced burglar has 224 previous offences - 131 of which are for theft. Not so unlucky, then.

Perkins, of Treforest, South Wales, pleaded guilty to burglary of PCSO Bolton's home at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court. Jailing him for 12 months, Judge Richard Twomlow told him: "You have been a thorough nuisance."

So, it'll be a year at least before his 226th arrest.
