Britain and France are set to sign an agreement aimed at alleviating the Calais migrants crisis which will include measures to strengthen security at the port.

The French Interior Ministry said Home Secretary Theresa May will travel to Calais on Thursday to sign the agreement with her counterpart Bernard Cazeneuve.

The deal will focus on improving security at the port where thousands of migrants are trying to get to Britain on boats and through the Eurotunnel.

It will contain measures to deal with human traffickers who facilitate migrants' journeys and contain commitments to boosting humanitarian support for the most vulnerable migrants.
