A glitch has left some Nationwide customers unable to withdraw money from ATMs or make purchases in store this morning.
A spokesperson for Britain's biggest building society said the issue has now been resolved and lasted less than an hour.
They also stressed the issue was intermittent, meaning not all customers would have been affected.
It is not the first time the bank has been beset by such issues. Last year, the bank was forced to apologise after many customers were left unable to make payments or use online banking services.
