Diana's bridesmaid 'bitterly regrets' selling royal wedding dress

One of Diana, Princess of Wales's bridesmaids "bitterly regrets" selling her dress.

Sarah-Jane Gaselee, the daughter of racehorse trainer Nick Gaselee who schooled the Prince of Wales as a jump jockey, was just 11 when she played a part in the royal wedding.

But she sold her Elizabeth Emanuel-designed bridesmaid dress to Diana's brother, Earl Spencer, in 1999 for an estimated £11,000.

Her brother James told Sebastian Shakespeare for the Daily Mail: "She now bitterly regrets it, but she needed the money at the time. She got criticised, but the truth is she was a bit hard up as a youngster and needed the cash."

Ms Gaselee once said she remembered every second of the 1981 wedding.

"The roar was deafening. It seemed the whole world was cheering. It was overwhelming," she said of following Charles and Diana out of St Paul's Cathedral.
