New Zealand Searches For New Flag To Prove That It Exists

There's a running joke on the internet that New Zealand doesn't exist, riffing on the fact that it's often grotesquely distorted on maps, omitted from them altogether or, worst of all, thought to be a state of Australia.

Another factor is the national flag's close resemblance to that of Australia's. Both feature the British Union flag in the top corner in addition to stars on a navy background.

A 12-member flag consideration panel has now been set up by the government and a referendum will be held later in the year to select the final design.

What do you think the Kiwis should feature on their new flag?
