Trio accused of stealing £235k of avocados

Three produce workers are accused of stealing $300,000 (£235,000) worth of avocados from the firm where they worked.

Southern California authorities have arrested Carlos Chavez, Rahim Leblanc, and Joseph Valenzuela for allegedly selling the avocados and pocketing the cash.

Police say the trio sold a $50 box worth of avocado for around half of the price to avoid suspicion.

But it was one of their customers who notified the produce company.

An official from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office told the LA Times they believe the men were able to get away with it for so long because of the high demand and popularity of avocados.
