You can treat yourself for free over the Easter holiday and beyond. The Easter break seems to be all about treating other people - you take the family out, buy chocolate for the kids, and the best you can hope for in return is a half-hearted home-made card. Fortunately you don't need to rely on an outbreak of thoughtfulness from your family, because we have the freebies that allow you to treat yourself for nothing this Easter.

Free lipstick
This deal has been running for a while, but it remains an excellent offer. The users of Latestdeals.co.uk have pointed out that if you return six MAC containers to a MAC counter, they'll give you a free lipstick of your choice. It's worth checking with friends and family, because if they have an old dried up old lipstick or mascara it's worth nothing to them, but if you collect six together you can get a lipstick worth £16.50.

Free hand cream
This isn't strictly a freebie, because in order to get your hands on a 50ml tube of Neal's Yard hand cream you'll need to buy the May edition of Marie Claire which will cost you £4. However, if you like the magazine, you're onto a winner, and even if you buy the magazine and chuck it away, it's a great price for these creams - which usually cost £10 each.

Free £10 voucher
If you donate an old pair of children's shoes to Schuh, they'll give you a £10 voucher to redeem against any pair of shoes. It's part of its 'Too Big for your Boots' campaign in aid of Newlife. The shoes will be recycled and raise money support families across the UK get specialist equipment.

You'll need to check whether your local store is participating, by popping in or calling Schuh on 0207 100 1515. However, if they are taking part, there's no limit to the number of vouchers you can get (although you can only use one per transaction). At the moment, the store has some great kids' summer shoes for as little as £15, so the voucher could come in very handy indeed.

Free family tree
If you've ever fancied doing your own version of 'Who Do You Think You Are?', then you and your family can give it a go this weekend for free. The users of HotUKDeals.com have spotted that Ancestry.co.uk is providing free access to millions of UK, Ireland and Commonwealth records, so you can track down your ancestors and find out more about them. You don't need a code for the freebie, just visit the site between 14 and 17 April.

Free drink if you are called George, Georgina or Georgia
And when Easter is becoming a faint memory, to celebrate St George's Day, the users of HotUKDeals.com have spotted that The Pub Group Generous George is offering a free drink or ice cream to anyone called George (or any version of the name). Just bring ID to prove your name on 23 April, and you can get a free pint of lager, glass of wine, Pepsi, lemonade, J-20 or ice cream. You can track down your nearest pub using the website.
