Britons will blow around £83 on clothing this summer which will hardly be worn before it is thrown out, research has found.
Men are worse culprits than women, spending £100 on average on useless outfits while women waste £67 typically on badly-fitting or poor quality garments that will not make it to next summer, TK Maxx found.
The most common items destined for the chuck-out pile include shorts, swimwear, T-shirts and dresses.
Londoners are expected to waste the most on "one hit wonders", spending £99 on average, compared with £66 in East Anglia.
Around 2,000 people took part in the research last month across the UK.
