Ashes of six-year-old boy who died of cancer held for $5,000 ransom

A grieving father was left in shock after his dead child's ashes were stolen and then held to ransom for a reward.

Joshua Wagner's son died from lymphoma at the age of six.

The family kept his remains at Joshua's brother's home in California.

But thieves broke in, stealing the safe in which the ashes were kept.

They then asked for for a $5,000 ransom (around £4,000).

The father says a lawyer got in touch with him saying she had a client who knew the person holding the ashes but would dump them if they didn't get the reward.
