The benefits of eating dark chocolate have long been recognised - but the best one of all is surely this: according to a new study, it can help you lose weight.
Apparently it's all to do with a chemical called polyphenol, which is abundant in high-quality (ie, high cocoa content) dark chocolate. This chemical has a positive impact on your internal bacteria, the research has found.
Around 800 volunteers were involved in the study, which concluded that this important chemical plays a big role in weight loss - so much so that it's being heralded as "... a game changer for the millions suffering from or at high risk of diabetes."
Dark chocolate is loaded with nutrients that can positively affect your health. Made from the cocoa bean, it is a great source of antioxidants and has been proven to improve health and lower the risk of heart disease.
Of course, the message is that you should only eat it in moderation as, despite its health benefits, it's rather loaded in calories... But let's focus on the good news for once.
