For anyone looking for a getaway that will revitalise, re-energise and refocus, a yoga retreat could be just the thing. So take your pick from some of the best yoga breaks available both here and abroad.
WellbeingYogi Yoga Retreats - Somerset
Set within the glorious Somerset countryside, a weekend yoga break at Pennard House offers cosy and comfortable accommodation teamed with peace, tranquility and, of course, yoga. Start the day with a silent walk to ease you into the day, and take advantage of yoga and meditation classes, yoga nidra, and daily massage treatments, as well as healthy, vegetarian food. Two-night or three-night retreats are run throughout the year, and start from £250 per person, based on two sharing.
Tilton House - East Sussex
Just an hour away from London, Tilton House, a gorgeous Georgian country home situated on the edge of the South Downs Way, runs a number of yoga workshops throughout the year. Sally Parkes, Luisa Rennie and Annie Pearson Adams are among the instructors lined up for 2013 retreats, and each offers their own yoga specialism.
Dune Eco Village Resort & Spa - India
If the Paradise Spa's Ayurvedic treatments, yoga and meditation isn't enough to draw you to this stunning Indian resort, the 700m sea front at this 35-acre eco-friendly hotel surely will. Healthy fusion food, with fruit and veg grown on the resort's own organic farm, is on offer, as well as a swimming pool and tennis court, while accommodation comes in form of 30 unique villas.
Samahita - Thailand
Situated far from the touristy area of Koh Samui, the Samahita retreat on the south coast is for guests that take their yoga seriously. Specialising in Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, workshops, classes and meditation take place in the retreat's yoga shala, overlooking the garden, beach and pool.
Reiki training, healthy cooking and massage workshops are also on offer, as well as barefoot running for fitness fanatics. It's certainly not for beginners, but the intense programs and detox diet (no smoking or alcohol allowed) are designed to help focused individuals to achieve their goals.
Yoga Breaks - Spain
For a less intense but no less relaxing yoga retreat, Yoga Breaks offer getaways that are suitable for beginners and intermediates. Set in a beautiful hotel on the Costa Blanca, which, according to the World Health Organisation, boasts one of the healthiest climates in the world, twice-daily classes, Ayurvedic-inspired meals and meditation and pranayama workshops will leave you refreshed and relaxed.
But the regime is far less strict than some of the Far East resorts, and optional activities include coastal hikes, mountain biking, kayaking or a spot of aromatherapy pampering. Prices range from £565 for a five-night stay, to £1,145 for the six-night Ultimate Mind & Body retreat.
