And from 16 to 18 November, Sir Chris will witness the debut event at the newly-completed Glasgow Velodrome named in his honour - the second leg of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup.
As the first rung on the Olympic qualification ladder, the world's finest cyclists will be pinning their hopes on a win and a visit to the event will give both fans and newcomers to the sport a great chance to experience the thrill of some of the best track racing in the world.
From the potentially nail-biting Keirin, in which riders gradually accelerate behind a pacing bike before unleashing their astonishing finishing speed in a sprint to the line, and the tactical head-to-head sprints where holding your nerve is everything, to the high-speed chase that is the team pursuit and the impressive all-round skills of the Omnium competitors, the World Cup has something for everyone.
While Pendleton and Hoy won't be competing, Sir Chris will be in attendance, and there will be plenty of Team GB hopefuls lining up to wow the crowds.
Three-time Olympic champion Jason Kenny and double gold-winner Laura Trott will be back for more glory (hopefully), while fellow Olympians Ed Clancy and Jess Varnish are also part of the British team for the event. And who knows, you could even witness a win for the next Commonwealth or Olympic medallist.
Though the initial release of tickets have already sold out, there may be further seats available, so whether you're a track cycling fanatic or new to the sport, keep an eye on www.trackworldcup.co.uk for news of how you could witness the next step on the road to Rio.
