More than 1,000 people in employment were quizzed for the survey, which also found that women worry more about losing their phones than men - 70 per cent vs 61 per cent to be precise.
And the study also found that 41 per cent of people had more than one mobile - with men more likely to be packing two phones than women.
The last time a study on the subject was conducted was in 2008, when it was found that 53 per cent of people feared being without their phone.
It also found that men were more worried about it than women - a detail that now appears to have reversed (possibly because more men have a spare phone).
Also, almost half of those questioned said they would be upset if their partner looked at their text messages.
