Supermarket giant Sainsbury's has slashed the price of all its toys ahead of the festive season, allowing mums and dads to treat their children without breaking the bank.

Until Wednesday November 2, every toy stocked in the supermarket's 400 stores nationwide will be on sale with a 50 per cent discount and more than a quarter of those on offer feature in the Toy Retailers Association's top 70 Christmas must-haves.

The Kidizoom Twist digital camera, for example, is usually priced at £49 but parents can now snap it up for a mere £24, while the pre-school favourite Dance Star Mickey will be on sale at £34.99, also a reduction of 50 per cent.

Everything from Scalextric and Hornby train sets to wooden doll's houses will be offered at half price, while in-demand brands such as Lego and Playmobil will also be available at a discount.

Robbie Feather, general merchandise director for Sainsbury's, told the Daily Express, "We know that Christmas can be an expensive time of year and budgets are stretched. This is a great opportunity for people to get their hands on some of this year's must-have toys at incredibly low prices.

He added, "The only thing to worry about will be finding somewhere to keep them hidden from prying eyes."
