The new season finds colours back in, the dark shades of winter are far behind. Black is out and vibrant colours, like pink, or even green are going to be hot this summer. Look out for fresh and natural complexions too. The catwalks have featured plenty of red and pink for lips in various shades so far this year so this should be reflected in what's happening on the high street. Glitter too is set to be big this Spring/Summer. Let's take a closer look at what's hot...

Smokey eyes are definitely in and big lashes are a very trendy look. The catwalks have been brimming over with '60s style, larger than life lashes. It's a style that can be easily achieved with a good mascara. Layer it on, several coats should do you fine. There is no way to get those lush, thick lashes with only two coats.

Prepare yourself for an influx of false eyelash products. The trend will be for individual lash addition rather than complete replacement. There will be plenty of products to choose from but if you can afford it why not get a professional to do it for you and book into a salon. It will end up lasting you a lot longer.

The hottest colours of the season will be soft purples and lavenders. An easy way to wear the hue at the moment is on the eyes and nails A light covering of lilac or mauve can be every bit as pretty as pink and makes a fresh alternative to the current trend for bold reds.

You may be a little surprised to find orange making an appearance this summer, not bold themes but rather in hints. Alongside the summer orange will be warm shades of brown, beige and gold. You will find these colours in blush, nail varnish and eye shadow.

Pale complexions are going to be very big, set against touches of pink blushers and natural shades of lipstick. Expect to see fresh-faced complexions with frosted touches and even wet-look finishes.

The overall trend will be for a more natural look. Prepare to show off your complexion instead of makeup, however carefully it was put together. Try soft shades on the eyes and cheeks and prepare for a youthful, subtler and more feminine look.
