With Ed Balls poised to spin round the dancefloor at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom on Saturday, he could soon be the most successful politician or journalist in Strictly Come Dancing history.

He certainly looked cheery as he arrived at the famous ballroom ahead of performing a jive to Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis.
