Welcome to the jungle, Danny Baker and Martin Roberts

Updated:

Broadcaster Danny Baker entered the Australian jungle in tonight's episode of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! for what he is billing as his last ever television appearance.

The BBC Radio 5 Live presenter was a late addition to the ITV show's camp along with Homes Under The Hammer host Martin Roberts, joining the other 10 celebrities who kicked off the series on Sunday.

Danny, who has had a career spanning four decades in TV and radio, said before his debut on the programme that it would be the last viewers would see of him as he plans to retire from the airwaves following his 60th birthday.

He said: "I have been doing telly for 40 years, I'm 60 next year and I've got no ambition to be on telly anymore. The only show I've ever wanted to do is this. It's like being asked to do a West End musical."

He added: "This is, in modern TV, as good as it gets - they fly you around the world, put you in a hotel with a beach, then you play games in the jungle."

Danny, who underwent treatment for throat and mouth cancer after being diagnosed in 2010, said: "When this came around, rather than disappearing quietly, I thought 'why not do one last big television programme?'

"I just don't want to do any more telly or radio or anything else after June, when I'm 60."

Fans of the programme also watched mathematician Carol Vorderman find the formula to relaxation tonight as she enjoyed a massage from Olympic hockey player Sam Quek.

She reduced camp mate Scarlett Moffatt to fits of giggles as she let out a series of moans as Sam worked the knots out of her muscles and later explained: "Lots of people can give massages in this camp and I'm a very willing victim."

Scarlett joined in by giving Sam's shoulders a rub, while comedian Joel Dommett joined the end of the massage train behind Scarlett.

Meanwhile, 69-year-old actor Larry Lamb impressed the younger campers with his exercise regime of squats and push-ups.

Emmerdale star Adam Thomas said: "Everyone's doing their own bit, Larry's got his exercises, the guy's a stallion."

Former footballer Wayne Bridge added: "If I'm in that shape when I'm his age, I'll be absolutely buzzing."

Although Scarlett wasn't quite so impressed with his tips on how to use the toilet perfectly as he dished out instructions on how to sit and where to place your feet.

She said: "Larry is the expert in everything, from politics to pooing, Larry knows it all.

"I've been pooing for 26 years of my life and all this time I thought I was doing it right, who would have thought I'd come to the jungle and learn how to have a crap."

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues on ITV at 9pm.
