Gigi Hadid has finally spoken out following Tommy Hilfiger's comments about her having to be covered in a poncho for one of his shows because she is "not quite as thin" as other models, and she's managed to clear a few things up.
The 21-year-old catwalk star and the design legend, 65, are a duo to be reckoned with in the fashion industry but Tommy recently came under fire for his remarks about his Autumn/Winter 2015 show.
Tommy had told Yahoo that his casting director had decided Gigi should be covered in a now-bestselling poncho, because of her apparent not-so-slim physique.
He said: "Our casting director said, 'She doesn't really fit because, you know, she's not quite as tall as the other girls, she's not quite as thin.' So they put a red, white and blue poncho on her."
"It covered a lot of her body unfortunately, but it received millions of hits so I said why don't we ask her to design a line for us."
The designer was largely criticised for his comments about the supermodel but Gigi has had her say and defended him.
"I've known her for many years, and am extremely proud to have her as the ambassador of my brand and as a collaborator of our collections.
"Any statement to the contrary is completely false. The headline from the interview with Yahoo was misleading and has since been corrected."
