I couldn't imagine doing anything apart from acting, says Lily-Rose Depp

Lily-Rose Depp has said she "couldn't imagine" no longer working as an actress after following her famous father Johnny into the film industry.

The 17-year-old stars opposite Oscar-winner Natalie Portman in Planetarium, a drama about two sisters who perform as supernatural mediums in 1930s France.

Natalie, who is expecting her second child, joined Lily-Rose on the red carpet at a gala screening of the movie at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Lily-Rose told the Press Association: "I always wanted to have a bunch of different jobs when I was little. It's only in the last five years or so of my life that I really started thinking about (acting).

"Now that I do it I couldn't imagine doing anything else."

Lily-Rose, who has also modelled for Chanel, said she found it "easy" developing a bond with Natalie, who is 18 years older.

"We just got along really well from the beginning," she said. "Our director sent us to the spa together to form a sisterly bond. It was really great."

Lily-Rose, the daughter of French singer Vanessa Paradis, recently defended her father after he was accused of domestic abuse by Amber Heard during the couple's bitter divorce battle.

She posted an Instagram photo of herself as a baby with the Pirates Of The Caribbean actor, writing that he was "the sweetest, most loving person I know".

Planetarium director Rebecca Zlotowski said she cast Lily-Rose after Natalie handed her a photo which highlighted their similar appearances.

The director initially thought she would cast an unknown actress to play the role because the character was 13 years old in the original script.

Rebecca said: "When I saw the likeness of those two actresses, then the idea was much more relevant to me that she's already famous so she already has a gift.

"The character in the film is a child with a gift who travelled the world. Everything was relevant."

Planetarium will have its UK premiere at the London Film Festival on October 12.
