Horror fans get ready for something new and exciting: Geena Davis is to head up the cast of chilling new series The Exorcist.
The Academy Award-nominated actress will help terrify audiences in the 10-part drama, based on the original 1973 movie of the same name.
However, lovers of all things horror shouldn't expect a remake, as the series is set in Chicago 40 years after the horrific events seen in the original film.
For those who may not have seen the iconic horror film, it centres around a young girl who has been possessed by an evil spirit and is set in Georgetown in Washington DC.
And the series follows a similar vein, with two very different priests having to tackle one family's demonic possession, with each and every family member suffering in one way or another.
Geena plays mother Angela Rance, who is plagued by recurring nightmares - while her eldest daughter Katherine, played by Brianne Howey (Scream Queens), has become a recluse who refuses to leave her bedroom.
Angela's husband Henry, played by Alan Ruck (Ferris Bueller's Day Off), is slowly losing his mind, and she is sure that there is a demonic presence in the house growing stronger every day.
Thelma & Louise star Geena will also star alongside Ben Daniels (Law & Order) and Alfonso Herrera (The Chosen).

The series is being produced by NBCUniversal International Networks and will be broadcast on FOX in the US, and airs in the UK on Syfy in autumn.
Colin McLeod, MD, UK & Emerging Markets, NBCUniversal International Networks, said: "Securing the UK premiere of The Exorcist is a major coup for Syfy and an ideal fit for the channel brand where viewers are encouraged to imagine greater.
"With its exceptional production values and stellar all-star cast, this exciting acquisition underlines our commitment to delivering our viewers bold, daring and must-see content."
