Matt LeBlanc 'steers his way back to Top Gear'

Matt LeBlanc is set to sign a one-year deal to return to Top Gear, according to a report.

The Daily Mirror said that the former Friends star may have doubled his pay packet - from £500,000 in the last series to £1 million for the next instalment.

While in Los Angeles promoting his new sitcom Man With A Plan, Matt kept schtum saying: "I don't know. I'd like to (return). There's nothing officially happening yet. Follow the BBC."

But BBC insiders were said to have told the Mirror that Matt has verbally agreed to return and that he's about to sign a one-year deal shortly.

Former host Chris Evans, who quit in July, has tipped Matt to be the main presenter on the show, saying: "The simple truth is he and Top Gear were made for each other."

Asked about his Top Gear highlights, Matt told critics in the US it was "probably the travel", visiting places like South Africa, Morocco and Ireland.
