Daisy Ridley signs up to new franchise as Star Wars Episode VIII wraps up filming

Daisy Ridley has reportedly signed up for a major new role outside her leading lady part in the Star Wars franchise.

The 24-year-old will be joining the cast of Lionsgate's adaptation of Young Adult trilogy Chaos Walking, by author Patrick Ness.

Daisy Ridley arrives at the Oscars in February at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

The dystopian sci-fi novels are set in a world where all living creatures can hear each others' thoughts in a stream of images, words, and sounds called Noise.

In the first novel, The Knife Of Never Letting Go, a boy stumbles on a source of silence: a girl, named Viola. It leads them on a hunt to find the New World and escape from Prentisstown's mayor, who is preparing for war.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman will helm the thriller, while Jamie Linden has written the script.
