James Corden takes on his Carpool Karaoke passenger Adele at Emmys


James Corden will take on singers Adele and Beyonce at the Emmys as the British funnyman picked up two nods.

His Late, Late Show Carpool Karaoke Prime Time special is nominated for outstanding variety special alongside his former passenger Adele, who is up for her Live In New York City show.

Beyonce's visual album Lemonade and Amy Schumer's Live At The Apollo are also up for the same category.

The Late, Late Show will also take on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Real Time with Bill Maher, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee for outstanding talk series.


American Crime Story: The People vs OJ Simpson, which was shown in the UK on BBC Two, dominated nominations in the acting categories.

Cuba Gooding Jr, who played OJ Simpson, and Courtney B Vance, who portrayed Simpson's lawyer Johnnie Cochran, are both up for best lead actor in a limited series. Sarah Paulson is nominated for best lead actress in a limited series for her role as prosecutor Marcia Clark.

David Schwimmer, who played Simpson's lawyer and friend Robert Kardashian, John Travolta, who portrayed defence lawyer Robert Shaprio, and Sterling K Brown, who played prosecutor Christopher Darden, are also nominated for best supporting actor in a limited series.

Tom Hiddleston is nominated for his best lead actor in a limited series for his role in the popular BBC series The Night Manager, while his co-star Hugh Laurie is up for best supporting actor.

Tom is part of the British "triple threat" in his category that also includes Idris Elba, who is nominated for Luther, and Benedict Cumberbatch, who has been recognised for Sherlock.

Bryan Cranston is also nominated for his role as former US president Lyndon B Johnson in Sky Atlantic's film All The Way.

A host of stars from Game Of Thrones are also up for acting awards.

Kit Harrington and Peter Dinklage are nominated for best supporting actor in a drama series, while Lena Headey, Maisie Williams and Emilia Clarke are nominated for best supporting actress in a drama series.

Meanwhile, Maggie Smith is up for best supporting actress in a drama series for her role in Downton Abbey.
