Biffy Clyro look set to top the charts with new album Ellipsis

Biffy Clyro's new album is on course to top the charts this week.

The Scottish group's seventh studio album - titled Ellipsis - is outselling the rest of the top five combined at the midweek stage, said the Official Charts Company.

The band's nearest rival is Adele - her third studio album 25, one of the UK's 30 biggest sellers of all time, is at number two.

Biffy Clyro's last studio album, 2013´s Opposites, was their first to hit number one.

Rounding out the top five on the Official Albums Chart are Rick Astley's 50, which is up five places at three, Coldplay's A Head Full Of Dreams at four and ELO's All Over The World at five.

In the singles chart, the battle between Drake and Kungs Vs Cookin' On 3 Burners looks set to go on for another week.

The rapper's One Dance has been at the summit for 13 weeks, making it the longest reigning chart-topper of the digital age.

Drake on stage

This Girl by Kungs Vs Cookin' On 3 Burners has been jostling for the top spot, but Drake's track has always pipped it to the post.

However, Drake's reign could finally be coming to an end as although he is leading the way at this stage of the week, Kungs' song is less than 2,000 sales behind.

They also face a challenge from The Chainsmokers, who continue to climb the chart with Don't Let Me Down, up four places from last week to number three.

Drake and Rihanna's Too Good is at four, and Calvin Harris and Rihanna's This Is What You Came For is at number five.
