Serena Williams won her seventh Wimbledon title in front of a star-studded crowd

Pop superstar Beyonce and her husband Jay Z watched defending champion Serena Williams reclaim her Wimbledon crown and equal Steffi Graf's 22 grand slam victories.

Serena powered to her seventh title in SW19 with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Angelique Kerber.

The singers saw the action from Serena's box, along with the champion's sister Venus and other members of her family.

Sir David Attenborough and Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams were also in attendance. The young actress was sporting blue-grey hair and wearing a shirt and jacket - a far cry from her muddy brown locks as the tomboyish Arya Stark in the hit TV show.

Sir David arrived with his daughter Susan Attenborough to take up a seat in the Centre Court Royal Box, along with actor Sir John Hurt, who recently had to pull out of a production of the play The Entertainer with Sir Kenneth Branagh after being taken to hospital with an intestinal complaint.

Others arriving at SW19 to watch the tennis included comedian Peter Kay, West End star Elaine Paige, Miranda actress Sally Phillips and US stars Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia De Rossi.

Serena fell spread-eagled on her back on to the Centre Court Grass after dispatching Kerber in two sets, a huge grin across her face.

And after consoling her opponent she walked back to the centre of the court and raised two fingers on both hands, showing her delight at equalling Steffi's record.

Delighted fans shouted from the crowd "We love you Serena", before raising an enormous cheer for runner-up Angelique. But there was an even louder ovation when Serena raised the winner's Rosewater Dish above her head.
