5 things you need to know about Sky Atlantic's explosive new series Westworld


Sir Anthony Hopkins leads the star-studded cast of gritty new drama Westworld.

The series is set in a futuristic theme park called Westworld, complete with lifelike robots. As the park's name suggests, it is themed around the Old West.

As the first trailer is released, we look at what you need to know about the series some are hailing as the "new Game Of Thrones".

1. The tagline says it's a "dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin". Gulp.

2. Thandie Newton's character looks intriguing and slightly scary if that look is anything to go by.

3. The series is inspired by the original 1973 film written by Jurassic Park writer Michael Crichton. The original movie featured the likes of Yul Brynner and James Brolin. Star Trek and Star Wars director JJ Abrams is among the executive producers for the new series.
