JK Rowling has paid tribute to a victim of the mass shooting in Florida who worked at a Harry Potter theme park.

Luis Vielma is among at least 50 people killed by Omar Mateen in a mass shooting at the LGBTQ Pulse nightclub.

The author shared a photo of the 22-year-old wearing his Harry Potter uniform and giving a thumbs-up.

Friends of the victim told the Orlando Sentinel that Luis was a "true friend", and he had hoped to become an emergency medical technician.

One, Olga Glomba, described him as "a funny, sweet, nerdy guy without a mean side. He just wanted to make people smile."

Friends posted tributes online.
