Coronation Street's Carla Connor, played by Alison King, will make a sad exit from the cobbles in Thursday's episode.
This instalment is also set to bring bad news for David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), his wife Kylie (Paula Lane) and his sister Sarah (Tina O'Brien).
The police will call on the family to tell them the body of Callum Logan has been discovered in the drains under their house. As the Platts deal with their trauma, Carla attempts to move on.
She has endured a good deal of heartache during her 10-year stint in Weatherfield.
Fans will want to know if the feisty businesswoman has been forgiven by her neighbours for all the carnage she has caused this week before she leaves.
A picture released by ITV shows Alison's much-loved character saying farewell to her father Johnny Connor (played by Richard Hawley).
However, there is no clue as to whether the departing brunette is leaving with the blessing of everyone in the street.
In Wednesday's episode, Carla sparked a shocking chain of events when she attempted to run over sworn enemy Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).
Blaming Tracy for ruining her wedding to Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), Carla's vengeful action instead resulted in Cathy Matthews (Melanie Hill) lying injured in the road.
Meanwhile, Fiz Brown (Jennie McAlpine) and mechanic Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) crashed into the Platt house in a truck after Tyrone lost control at the wheel.
In a plot twist that has been months in the making, Tyrone's truck was left balancing precariously over the "grave" hiding the body of drug dealer Callum.
During Coronation Street's one-hour live special last September, Callum was killed by his former girlfriend Kylie as she rushed to the aid of Sarah.
Alison is leaving the soap for other projects and to spend more time with her seven-year-old daughter Daisy Mae.
Paula is also on her way out of the cobbles soon.
Coronation Street continues at 9pm on ITV.
