Humans stars Emily Berrington and Ivanno Jeremiah have told how people constantly come up to them and rub their chins - because that's the way to switch off the robots they play.
The actors star as synths in the Channel 4 sci-fi programme, and admitted one of the hazards is being accosted by people in pubs who want to touch their faces.
Speaking at the Bafta TV Awards, where Humans is up for best drama, Ivanno joked: "People don't ask first.
"There's so many people here we're feeling nervous."
Co-star Tom Goodman-Hill was also on the red carpet, where he lamented the lack of "good sci-fi" on TV.
Outing himself as a huge fan, he said: "More good sci-fi, please, there's not enough of it around."
