EastEnders actress Samantha Womack said that she sympathised with the man who stalked her.
The 43-year-old's character, Ronnie Mitchell, is currently being terrorised by a stalker in the soap and she explained that she had personal experience of being stalked, including him waiting outside her home to deliver her a love letter.
However, Sam said she felt sorry for her "vulnerable" stalker.
She told The Mirror: "He was this guy that I felt bad for. He was quite vulnerable and someone that got a bit confused. I wished him well and hoped he was OK.
"I wasn't scared and with people like that I just want to send them my love and make sure they're OK."
Peter Rombough, 22, pleaded guilty to travelling 93 miles to stalk the actress at her Bedfordshire home.
He was given an eight-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months at Great Yarmouth Magistrates' Court in December last year.
At the time, Sam said she was scared in her own home for herself and her children.
She said: "These events have had a massive impact. I can't stop thinking about it."
She also spoke about the return of Dame Barbara Windsor to the soap, who will be playing out her final scenes as Peggy Mitchell soon.
Sam said: "It's really hard to let Barbara go. Barbara is a part of my life there and is instrumental in my family and in EastEnders.
"Watching her walk away is like losing an arm - it really is like losing a limb. There were many tears off set and we were all quite emotional.
"She did these moving scenes and I just looked at her and she looked so graceful and so beautiful."
