"I'm the happiest I've ever been," he said. "Turning 30 has been amazing. I feel like I take everything in my stride now and I feel more confident. It has been the best year ever and I'm racing better than ever."
Lewis Hamilton talked about his ambitions in the fields of music and fashion at the 2015 GQ Men of the Year Awards.
The F1 driver said he would like to design his own line of clothes one day.
"I'm constantly fascinated in creative minds," he said, "Whether it's music, fashion, my engineers. But fashion is something I really love.
"I hope at some stage of my life I'll be able to collaborate with some of these up and coming British designers and do something neat."
He also hinted that a musical career might be on the cards. The F1 world championship leader said he aims to release some music with Canadian rapper pal Drake.
Clutching his GQ award as Sportsman of the Year, Lewis told the Daily Mirror: "A collaboration with Drake is on the cards. We will release something at some point but I'm just recording for fun at the moment."
Despite his split from singer Nicole Scherzinger, he said this has been the best year of his life.
He also revealed that his eye-catching new blond hairstyle was just a bit of spontaneous improvisation. "I don't have any inspiration for my hair. I just like changing it and doing something different."
