Villagers and forest officials in India's southern Kerala state came to the rescue of an elephant calf trapped inside an unused well.

The two-year-old calf fell into the well while roaming with its mother and the rest of the herd in a forest.

Rescuers used an earth mover to dig a path to the well and rope to help the calf climb its way out.
