This is the most powerful road-legal car Jaguar has ever produced – the XE SV Project 8.

The British firm's in-house skunk-works, known as Special Vehicle Operations, has overhauled the executive saloon into a 592bhp monster.


Beneath the bonnet lies a 5.0-litre V8, similar to the one found in the F-Type SVR. However, for the Project 8, Jaguar has boosted power by 25bhp – crowning it as the most powerful road-legal Jag ever produced.

Although the car has been pictured in a camouflage wrap, it's still clear that the vents in the XE's front bumper have been enlarged to improve engine cooling. They also make the Project 8 look far more aggressive than the regular car upon which it is based.

Towards the rear of the car, flared wheel arches suggest the XE's track has been widened. Despite Jaguar's attempts to camouflage the Project 8, there's no missing the large rear wing that sits atop the bootlid.

John Edwards, managing director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, said: "The time is right for SVO to produce the most extreme performance road car in the history of Jaguar.

"The SVO team is possessed by the spirit of performance and committed to creating the most thrilling driving experience imaginable."

The British manufacturer will only produce 300 Project 8s – all of which will be assembled by hand at the SVO Technical Facility in Coventry.

Jaguar will reveal the Project 8 in full on June 8. The public will get its chance to see it in the metal for the first time at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed.
