Elderly woman nearly hit by Good Samaritan's runaway car

Updated:

This is the unfortunate moment a well-intentioned motorist's attempt to help a pensioner cross the road goes incredibly wrong.

Dashcam footage shows the driver of a Nissan X-Trail walking towards the elderly woman who was slowly crossing the intersection with the help of her two crutches.

Unfortunately, the man appears to have left his handbrake off, and the SUV can be seen slowly rolling towards the woman.

The driver seems to ignore her attempts to alert him to the runaway vehicle, and only realises the predicament he has landed both of them in at the last second.

Turning to face the vehicle, the man attempts to use his leg to stop the car in its tracks, but is pushed backwards – knocking the elderly woman flat on her back.

By-standers can be seen rushing to the woman's assistance – who reportedly managed to avoid any serious injuries. She was assessed by paramedics at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan was no doubt left red-faced by the incident, which took place in Saare County, Estonia, in February.
