Heroic passenger wrestles knifeman on busy London bus

This is the terrifying moment a heroic commuter wrestled a knife from a man who attacked a London bus on Tuesday.

Video footage from the 149 bus in Stoke Newington shows the passenger struggling to remove the weapon from the knifeman's hands, in an act that could have seen him seriously injured or worse.

The passenger can be seen pinning the assailant against the glass of the driver's compartment, and was eventually able to remove the knife from the attacker's hands.

When the knifeman realised he was no longer armed, he made a break for the exit and ran off down the street.

As the attacker fled, the heroic passenger can be heard yelling after him: "I'm an African, you'll never take my life!"

According to the Daily Mail, Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called to reports of a stabbing at 1.55pm, and that a man in his 20s had been treated for minor cuts in hospital.

A spokesperson told the newspaper: "He was taken to an East London hospital where he was treated for his injuries. He has now been discharged. There have been no arrests and enquires continue."

Police are urging anyone with information to call 07500 607 652 or the police non-emergency line on 101.
