This is the first official image of the forthcoming Mercedes S-Class Coupe, which has been leaked ahead of the car's public debut at next month's Geneva motor show.
> The image first appeared in a Daimler financial report but was so squashed that it was mistaken for the also-soon-to-appear C-Class Coupe. However German language motoring website Autofilou managed to source the original version displayed above.
The car closely follows the shape and proportions of the S-Class Coupe Concept, which was shown at last year's Frankfurt motor show, but eschews that car's intricate front grille for the company's current design. The lower front-end design is also less pointed, but the slim-line headlight design remains.
Replacing the slow-selling CL Coupe in the upper echelons of the German marque's luxury car range, the S-Class Coupe will be available with the same petrol engines as the recently launched saloon version, meaning an entry-level model fitted with a 455bhp 4.7-litre V8, badged the S500. A 530bhp V12 will also be offered, alongside hugely powerful S63 and S65 AMG variants.
Stay tuned for further details, due to be officially revealed before the car's Geneva unveiling.
