Previewed at the recent Jaguar technical briefings, Autoblog UK can finally bring you details of the 2012 model year versions of the Jaguar XF and XK models.
First up is the XF that has gone through a thorough revamp, four years into its life, to keep it fresh against latest rivals such as the new Audi A6 and the current BMW 5-Series.
On the outside, the most obvious change for the 2012 model year XF is the new XJ-like nose. Fitted to all XF models including the superfast XFR, the changes include a new bonnet, wings, headlights, grille and bumper.
The more upright grille, lower bonnet line and the slim headlights certainly toughens up the front of the XF, especially with the bolder front bumper that's fitted to the XFR.
Changes for the 2012 XF are not just limited to the front; the face-lifted model also has new LED lights at the rear.
It's not just the exterior of the 2012 XF that has been changed; the interior has been subtly reworked too. Highlights include a restyled steering wheel, revised switchgear for the ventilation system and redesigned front seats with new trim.
Most significant change under the bonnet is the addition of the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that we had a drive in recently.
The biggest changes happen at the front of the XK with a set of all-new, slimmer headlights that feature subtle LED running lights. These sit alongside a new, larger oval grille finished in chrome with mesh in the centre.
Go for an XKR and the grille is even finished in black. There's also a pair of new scoops under the headlights that feed air to the brakes.
Move to the side of the latest Jaguar XK and there's a new horizontal vent mounted on each wing, complete with the Jaguar name. These are designed to make the XK seem longer and lower.
At the back, there are new LED taillights that sit either side of a thinner chrome strip and for the first time on an XK, a Jaguar leaper badge.
Inside, there are new trim and finishes and for the first time on the XK, the option of sports seats.
The revised 2012 model year XF and XK ranges will go on sale this September, with prices for the XF starting at £30,950 for the 2.2-litre diesel. Prices for the XK start at £65,000 for the V8 Coupe.
