MPs promise to stop funding speed cameras

Updated

After promising to clamp down on the speed camera 'cash cow,' transport minister Mike Penning has now told MPs that the Government will cease to provide millions of pounds a year in funding for the devices.

Penning has told local councils that they will still be able to install new cameras, but they will have to fund them themselves out of council taxes.
