Briatore steps down as QPR chairman

Updated

Flavio Briatore has stepped down as the chairman of Queens Park Rangers Football Club after a controversial spell in charge that saw ten managerial changes since September 2007.

Briatore bought into the club with fellow Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone, with plans to take the team to the Premier League within five years. However, the constant chopping and changing of management has seen the team languishing in 19th place in the Championship table – the second tier of English football.

Briatore oversaw a total of 47 players arrive at the club in the 29 months he was in charge, but that hasn't stopped the team losing five out of its last six matches.
