New Honda Jazz - Urban Spaceman

Updated

Unless you take a very close look, or at least have its predecessor standing alongside as a comparison, not even the trained eye will notice anything new at first glance. At least that's how it was with me when seeing the first photos of the new Jazz. The new version has a bit more of a hint of Civic to it both inside and outside, which should appeal to Honda fans.

But the real talents of this small vehicle only become apparent when looking in greater detail. Like its predecessor, the 2008 vintage is a real stowager supremo. It is not just that you get a completely flat surface when dropping the rear seats (something that a sixth generation Golf still cannot achieve), but also the passenger seat, when folded down, will let you carry lengths of up to 2.4 metres.

If you raise the rear seat bench, there is enough stowage space to accommodate a bicycle or two very large floor-standing potted plants (upright!)

VW, Renault; Peugeot, Citroen, Opel and everyone else who builds small cars in this segment should be ashamed of themselves!

The Civic also performs this conjuring trick with its magical rear seat bench.
