Meghan Merkle may have one royal Christmas already under her belt but this year, Christmas will be a whole new kettle of fish.

With rumours swirling about the state of her relationship with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, this festive season will be spent with the whole of the Royal Family at Sandringham in a show of unity.

However, she'll have some moral support as her mother, Doria Ragland, is expected to be joining her daughter and the rest of the royals for the big day.

The Duchess of Sussex, who is pregnant, will be under intense scrutiny this year as the Royal Family attend the traditional Christmas Day church service; with observers looking for the slightest hint of friction.

But despite the family dynamics, she may find some of the more unusual royal festive traditions a little unusual. She'll be opening her gifts on Christmas Eve (as is the German tradition), and it's well-known that the Queen likes a bit of mischief as the family exchange novelty gifts.

But it may be the traditional royal toast that Meghan will miss out on as the Queen like to raise her glass with the rest of her clan with a drop of Whisky.
