Man, 45, charged with murder over Dalkeith street death

A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a man died in a Midlothian street.

John Lynch, 41, from Rosewell, was found in Woodburn Road, Dalkeith, on Saturday and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Paul Alexander, 45, was charged with murder when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

He did not enter a plea and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

In a statement released via police, Mr Lynch's family said: "John was much loved by all of his family and will be dearly missed."
